The Extended Trade and Manufacturing app provides two main feature areas: enhanced availability information on production order components and purchase lines, and a dedicated material planning mode in BOM Structure.
This allows users to evaluate demand and availability directly in their working pages, mark items for material planning, use automatically prefilled values from item master data, keep BOM Buffer and Item values synchronized, run mass actions, and jump directly to the Planning Worksheet.
Production Order Components
On the Prod. Order Components page and the Prod. Order Comp. Line List page, the following fields are added for each component line:

Qty. on Sales Order
Shows how many units of the item are currently allocated to outstanding sales order lines. This gives an indication of how much of the existing inventory is already committed to customers.
Qty. on Component Lines
Shows how many units of the item are required across all outstanding production order component lines with status Planned, Firm Planned, or Released. Clicking the value opens a drill-down list of all corresponding component lines.
Inventory
Shows the current inventory quantity of the item, filtered by the location code, variant code, and unit of measure of the current component line.
Net Availability
Shows the calculated net availability of the item for the current component line. The value is filtered by location code, variant code, and unit of measure, and is recalculated each time the page is loaded or the active record changes. Formula: Inventory - Qty. on Component Lines - Qty. on Sales Order.
Qty. on Purch. Order
Shows how many units of the item are expected to arrive from outstanding purchase order lines. This helps to assess whether planned replenishments will cover the production demand.
Purchase Lines / Purchase Order
On the Purchase Lines page and on the lines subform of the Purchase Order page, the following field is added for each purchase line:

Qty. on Component Lines
Shows how many units of the purchased item are currently required across all outstanding production order component lines with status Planned, Firm Planned, or Released, filtered by location code, variant code, and unit of measure. This allows buyers to quickly assess whether a purchase order covers existing production demand.
Material Planning
Material Planning extends BOM analysis in the BOM Structure window with a dedicated Material Planning flag per item line.
Entering Material Planning mode
The mode is opened via the Material Planning action from:
Item Card
Item List
Production BOM
Production BOM List
In this mode, the UI changes as follows:
The page displays only lines of type Item.
The Material Planning field on BOM Structure becomes visible and editable.
Additional actions are available: Material Demand (Activate), Material Demand (Deactivate), Material Demand (Deactivate All Items), and Planning Worksheet.
Business rule for Replenishment System
The Material Planning flag can be enabled for any item regardless of its Replenishment System.
Session lock
Only one Material Planning session per item can be active at a time across all users.
When Material Planning is opened for an item, a session record is created for the current user.
If another user tries to open Material Planning for the same item while a session is already active, an error message is shown indicating which user currently has the session open.
The session record is automatically released when the Material Planning window is closed.
If the current user reopens Material Planning for the same item (e.g. after an unexpected close), the stale session record is silently reused without an error.
Prefill while building BOM Structure
When an item line is initialized in BOM Buffer, the Material Planning value is automatically copied from the related Item.
Prefill is applied only in Material Planning mode.
This ensures the initial state in BOM Structure matches the current status stored on the item card.
Direct editing in BOM Buffer
If users change the Material Planning field directly in BOM Structure, the related Item is synchronized immediately.
Yes/No changes in BOM Structure are written back to the item right away.
Mass actions in BOM Structure
The Material Demand (Activate) and Material Demand (Deactivate) actions work on all item lines within the current BOM Structure.
All BOM lines of type Item are processed, regardless of Replenishment System.
After each action, item flags are synchronized from the currently shown structure.
When deactivating or re-synchronizing, reset is limited to items contained in the currently open BOM Structure and is not applied globally.
The Material Demand (Deactivate All Items) action resets the Material Planning flag globally.
All items with Material Planning set to Yes are set to No, regardless of whether they appear in the current BOM Structure.
The flag is also reset in the currently shown BOM Structure buffer.
Open Planning Worksheet
The Planning Worksheet action opens the standard planning worksheet directly from Material Planning mode.
Recommended process
Open Item or Production BOM and start Material Planning.
Review the already automatically expanded structure and verify the prefilled values.
Adjust individual component flags if required.
Optionally run Material Demand (Activate) or Material Demand (Deactivate) for mass updates.
