This app offers the possibility to mark an item variant as a standard variant. When a specific item variant is marked as the default, the value is displayed on the item card as a flowField.
Automated creation of Item Variant with new Production BOM Version
With the creation of a new Production BOM Version an Item Variant can be created automatically, if activated.
Automatically use the default variant in tables
When inserting the item no., the standard variant code can be automatically transferred to the variant code field in certain tables.
In the setup, the functionalities can be activated via the following fields:

Create Item Variant Automatically With New BOM Version
Activates the functionality to automatically create a Item Variant for a new BOM Version.
Sales Line
Defines whether the default variant in the sales line table should be used when in the sales line field Type is set to Item and field No. is validated with the item no.
Purchase Line
Defines whether the default variant in the purchase line table should be used when in the purchase line field Type is set to Item and field No. is validated with the item no.
Item Journal Line
Defines whether the default variant in the item journal line table should be used when in the item journal line field Item No. is validated with the item no.
Production BOM Line
Defines whether the default variant in the production bom line table should be used when in the production bom line field Type is set to Item and field No. is validated with the item no.
Requisition Line
Defines whether the default variant in the requisition line table should be used when in the requisition line field Type is set to Item and field No. is validated with the item no.

Mark a variant as default
In order to mark an item variant as standard, the variants of an item must be called up and the Default field activated here for an item variant.
Tip
The field Default may only be activated for a single variant for a specific article. If you try to activate the field for several records, an error message appears.
Display of the default item variant when selecting the variant code
The Default field is displayed in all tables and pages when selecting the variant code.
Display of the default item variant on the item card
If a variant has been marked as default, the variant code is displayed on the item card in the item tab, at the end.
Automated creation of Item Variant with new Production BOM Version
When the functionality is enabled, creating a Production BOM Version automatically creates an Item Variant with the same code for each item that contains this Production BOM No.
Automatically use the default variant in tables
If the fields in the Default Item Variant Setup have been activated for the respective tables, then the default variant of the respective item, if any, is automatically inserted into the Variant Code field.
